HOW MANY SECOND CHANCES?

                   "HOW MANY SECOND CHANCES?"

This is my debut novella. It took me five years to complete this book. I could publish my book because of the supportive family, friends, and relatives I was surrounded with.

Life is weaved with intricacies, like a tapestry, yet every hardship holds a hidden silver lining awaiting the perfect moment to reveal itself.

The novella, ‘How Many Second Chances’ is a beautifully woven tale about Pema and Karma. Every twist and turn in the story was portrayed in a way that readers would enjoy with curiosity to flip to the next page without a pause. You will laugh, cry, and smile reading it. And sometimes, imagining yourself in Karma’s shoes, you will feel a burning flame in your heart out of jealousy.

“It was evident that he would do anything to get what he wants that night, and he did. So I rushed to the hostel very early on the following day. Then, just in a night, I lost the beautiful me. Yet, I didn’t tell a soul about it, considering the numerous determinants I would face if I did so”. These lines from the story humorously convey how some people in their life suffer behind the curtain. If Pema had disclosed the incidents, she would have been badly mocked by society. She would have been ostracized by her friends.

The female character, Pema, survived some heart-wrecking downfalls when all she wanted was to hold Karma’s hand and spend the rest of her life with him. Losing her virginity to Phuntsho at the cost of 500 milliliters of blood from him to save Karma’s life was the biggest blow she survived. This shows the bitter sacrifice people make for their dear ones, no matter how badly they are trapped. Despite Karma’s ill-treatment towards Pema at the beginning of the story, she had never failed in her commitment to love him.

“Only some people are assertive. There must be many like me who don’t know how to fall in love. I am perfectly imperfect. Are you? No matter how flawed you are, never give up on being accurate. Love, lust, and keep loving with every broken piece of your heart. After all, you are not a character from a movie to be flawless”. As emphasized in the novella, there might be many Pema's in schools and colleges who got trapped in whirlpool tentacles of infatuation; who raced in haste to escape from a complex tapestry of life. However, she could come over the battle between love and infatuation at the end of the end story and ended up marrying Karma.

Through my novella, students can explore the moral dilemmas and ethical choices that characters face, encouraging them to reflect on the consequences of their actions. By presenting characters who demonstrate empathy, honesty, or courage, my book can inspire students to embrace these values in their own lives. The novella encourages readers to think critically, analyze situations, and develop problem-solving skills as they follow the characters' journeys.
